Our Values

Transdiagnostic

At Canopy, we take a transdiagnostic view of therapy. This means we work with many different forms of psychological distress (such as depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, sleep problems, chronic pain and more). We understand that difficulties often overlap, and we are committed to working with the whole person.

Specialised

We provide help for certain problems which require specialised knowledge. For example, sleep problems (e.g., insomnia and nightmares), health psychology areas (e.g., persistent/chronic pain), personality disorders, and interventions for children (aged 12+).

Strength-focused

Therapy helps us learn to manage psychological distress. We take a strengths-focused approach to therapy, helping people build cognitive-behavioural skills which capitalise on their existing strengths and build long-term resiliency, even after therapy!

Evidence-based

The therapy we do is evidence-based (supported by science). We specialise in a number of these interventions, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Schema Therapy (ST).

Collaborative

We aim to be a collaborative service. This means working as a team with our clients to help them meet their personal goals. Where helpful, we consult with a network of GPs, medical specialists, allied health practitioners and more. We also collaborate with other organisations to improve outcomes through involvement in training and research.

Respectful

Canopy is committed to delivering a service which is respectful and welcoming. This means being sensitive to diversity of culture, sexual, and gender identity. We acknowledge the custodians and traditional owners of the land on which we work, the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation.

Our Team

Finding a psychologist who suits your needs is important. At Canopy, our psychologists have been selected for their ability to understand the heart of the problem, offer evidence-based psychological help, and to connect and be human with their clients.
